Kino im Café Kunsthalle
Yumen (China / USA, 2013, 65 Minuten, OmU; Regie: Xu Ruotao, J.P. Sniadecki, Huang Xiang)
Mit einer Einführung von Uschi Feldges, Multimediaautorin und Filmwissenschaftlerin
Ein gespenstisches, fragmentiertes Märchen, das von hungrigen Seelen, einer rastlosen Jugend, einem umherirrenden Künstler und einer einsamen Frau handelt, die in der Ruinenlandschaft der postindustriellen, chinesischen Geisterstadt Yumen nach menschlicher Bindung suchen. Komplett auf 16 mm gedreht, bringt der Film narrative Gebärde, Performancekunst und sozialistischen Realismus zusammen und formt daraus eine simple und leuchtende Collage, die nicht bloß mit Konventionen spielt und Genres trotzt, sondern zugleich Hommage an eine Lebenswelt und ein Medium ist, die im Begriff sind langsam zu verschwinden.

Schülerinnen und Schüler des Gymnasiums Hohenbaden stellen ihre Lieblingsorte in der Ausstellung “DISTANT tantamount MOUNTAIN” vor.

Stefanie Klingemann. IMAGINATION
Stefanie Klingemann inszeniert im Studioraum der geschichtsträchtigen Kunsthalle eine Collage visueller Fundstücke Baden-Badens, die aktuelle Kunst zwischen Tradition und Affirmation verortet. Die orts- und raumbezogene Installation IMAGINATION schlüsselt triviale Alltagsbilder auf und wird am Eröffnungsabend durch eine Performance ergänzt, die mit einer Prise Humor die Tiefgründigkeit von offensichtlichem Marmorimitat, als Auszug aus dem kollektiven Bildgedächtnis, befragt.

With an introduction by Uschi Feldges, multimedia author and film theorist
A spooky, fragmented fairy tale about hungry souls, a restless youth, a wandering artist, and a lonely woman looking for a human bond in the ruins of the postindustrial, Chinese ghost town of Yumen. The film is completely filmed to 16 mm. It combines narrative gesture, performance and socialist realism, creating a simple and luminous collage. It is not only playing with conventions and defies genres, but is at the same time an homage to a lived-in world and a cineastic medium which are both slowly about to disappear.

Studiospace 45cbm: Exhibition opening with Performance
Stefanie Klingemann. IMAGINATION
At studiospace 45cbm of the historic Kunsthalle, Stefanie Klingemann stages a collage of visual finds in Baden-Baden, placing contemporary art between tradition and affirmation. The site -specific installation IMAGINATION breaks down trivial everyday images and, on the opening evening, is supplemented with a performance. It questions, with a pinch of humour, the profundity of obvious marble imitations, as an excerpt from the collective image memory.
Ceremonial opening on Friday 29th of September, 7 pm with a performance by Stefanie Klingemann
